Projects we’re building
Whats-AI is more than a place to read about artificial intelligence.
Behind the articles, comparisons and tools, we’re also building our own projects — experimenting with AI, automation, publishing workflows and new ways of making technology more useful.
Some of these projects are built specifically for Whats-AI. Others may eventually become standalone tools, products or services.
Forge is the first of seven projects we’re currently planning.
This page is where we’ll share what we’re working on, what stage each project has reached, and occasionally give you a look at what’s happening behind the scenes.
Forge
An AI-powered publishing and content automation system
Status: 🟡 Active Development
Forge is our most advanced project so far.
It is a locally run AI-powered publishing system designed to help automate the process of discovering, researching, writing, optimizing and preparing content for publication.
Rather than relying on a collection of disconnected tools, Forge brings much of the workflow into a single automated pipeline.
It can discover new stories and articles, retrieve source material, analyze content, assist with writing, generate SEO information, identify internal linking opportunities and prepare finished content for WordPress.
The goal isn’t simply to have AI write articles.
The goal is to build a system that can handle much more of the work surrounding publishing while still allowing a human to remain in control of the final result.
What Forge currently does
Forge is already capable of handling a substantial part of the publishing workflow.
- Discovering relevant articles through RSS feeds
- Resolving and retrieving original source articles
- Extracting article content and titles
- Using AI for editorial analysis
- Generating original articles
- Generating SEO titles and meta descriptions
- Suggesting tags and keywords
- Finding opportunities for internal links
- Preparing content for WordPress
- Converting generated content into Gutenberg blocks
- Keeping track of processed articles and publishing information
- Running locally using open-source AI infrastructure
The system is deliberately being built around local AI where practical. This allows us to experiment without depending on expensive recurring API costs and gives us considerably more control over the workflow.
What we’re working on now
Forge is still very much an active development project.
Right now, we’re concentrating on making the system smarter and more reliable rather than simply adding more features.
Current work includes:
- Improving the SEO indexing workflow
- Avoiding unnecessary AI generation when information already exists
- Improving automated internal linking
- Making article processing more reliable
- Reducing unnecessary AI calls
- Improving the handling of incomplete AI responses
- Refining the WordPress publishing workflow
- Improving the overall autonomy of the pipeline
- Making Forge easier to maintain and extend
The long-term goal is a system that can discover an interesting topic, research it, prepare the content and SEO information, and move it through the publishing workflow with as little manual intervention as possible — while still leaving the final editorial decisions to us.
Why are we building Forge?
Because we wanted to find out what happens when you stop treating AI as simply a chatbot and start treating it as a component inside a larger system.
Forge is also an experiment.
We’re using Whats-AI itself as a testing ground for the technology we build. That means the system has to deal with real articles, real sources, real WordPress content and real publishing problems.
That makes development considerably more interesting — and considerably more useful.
Attire
Automated commercial content creation
Status: ⚪ Planned
Attire is planned as another project in the Whats-AI ecosystem, with a different focus from Forge.
Where Forge is designed around a broader publishing workflow, Attire is envisioned around commercial and comparison-oriented content.
The idea is to make it possible to create and maintain useful “best”, “top” and product-focused content more efficiently, including the information that makes these pages genuinely useful to readers.
We’re still in the early planning stages, so we’re deliberately keeping the details limited for now.
More will be revealed as development begins.
Ion
Another experiment in AI-powered automation
Status: ⚪ Planned
Ion is one of the next projects in our development lineup.
The concept is still being developed, so we’re not ready to reveal everything about it yet.
What we can say is that Ion is part of the same broader idea behind all of these projects: finding practical problems where AI and automation can do considerably more than simply generate text.
Development details will be added here as the project takes shape.
Latch
Another project in the Whats-AI pipeline
Status: ⚪ Planned
Latch is currently in the planning stage.
Like the other projects we’re working on, it is being designed around practical applications of AI rather than AI for its own sake.
We’re keeping the details under wraps for now while the concept is being developed.
Once there is something meaningful to show, this page will be updated with more information.
Seven projects. One experiment.
Forge, Attire, Ion and Latch are only the beginning.
We’re currently planning a total of seven projects, each exploring a different way AI can be used to automate work, create useful tools or build new products.
Some will remain internal systems.
Some may become tools available to everyone.
And some may eventually become standalone products or projects of their own.
We’re intentionally not revealing everything yet.
Part of the fun of building these projects is being able to show what happens as they move from an idea on a screen to something that actually works.
We’ll update this page as development progresses.
